Self Responsibility

Wow - that is a big word. Tonight as I reflect on this word I am starting to realize what this word really means for me. Taking charge of myself and my thoughts and everything surrounding me. I have been searching for something these past weeks to put me in a more positive place in my world. I have been feeling overwhelmed and discouraged by my thoughts and actions, frustrated with my weight, eating habits and the way I look and overall feeling down in the dumps. I visited tonight with a woman who practices Cranial Sacral Therapy (for more info - http://www.iahe.com/html/therapies/cst.jsp). I have been seeing her since January. She mentioned the word "Self Responsibility" and it has resonated with me. I know that it seems like a simple thought but the word hit home. If I don't like the patterning of something - recognize it, acknowledge it, think about how to change it, then DO IT. Stop waiting for someone or something to change it. Take control. Yes, I have the control to change it. No more placing blame, no more rationalizing, no more procrastinating, time to change it. I am responsible for my time and how I manage it, no one else is. I am responsible for what I put in my mouth no one else is. I am responsible for adding exercise into my routine, no one else is. I am responsible for the moods I am experiencing, no one else is. Self - Responsibility. Thanks Jane!

Yeah!!

Well I am not getting 1 million dollars but I did win the Go Scrapping Amazing Race. It finished off today. We had to teach a technique - kind of up my alley and I submitted mine first. YEAH! I get to be a guest Design Team member on Go Scrapping site this summer. It should be fun. The race has been so much fun but I am glad that it has now come to an end. Through the race I have gotten so many layouts done which has been a huge benefit and I am on a scrapbooking roll.

I guess everything is coming to an end. American Idol finished yesterday with Jordin crowned the winner. I have to say that she was my favourite. Downloaded her single today, I really like her voice. Can't wait for Canadian Idol to start, I have to say that I love it too!

The Race Continues

Well I am still in the race. There are 5 people remaining. It is sure getting harder but I am loving the challenges and I am getting so much done. FUN FUN FUN! Here are a couple more of the layouts that I completed. Not sure what's going to happen this weekend. We are heading to Ottawa for the weekend and I am working at Scrapfest Ottawa with the Turtle. Looking forward to seeing Andy's family and should be fun at Scrapfest but I think that will mean elimination for me. Oh well, it has been fun.

Did a little gardening this morning - I am feeling it tonight. The girls and I had a great evening. We picked up Pita Factory and headed to the park for a picnic for supper. We laughed and swung and walked and checked out the animals and ate and ate some more. Just the three of us having fun. Need to remember these times - they are priceless.

Wow...What a Storm

Last night there was such a storm here. I don't usually get freaked out but last night I did. I actually sent the kids down to the basement. I took one look outside and couldn't believe the sky. YIKES. The wind was blowing so hard and the rain coming down like crazy - I could not even see across the street. The damage around our house was crazy. Almost every tree on the street had big branches down and some of the the trees that were down were huge. I could barely get to my meeting because of the downed trees.

With the power out it made it pretty hard to watch American Idol - so bummed. I always look forward to it especially now that it is down to 3. Oh well... Before bed last night I had to bail out the sump pump. It was almost overflowing because the power was out. The good thing about the power being out was that I had an early night. We set the alarm clock last night for 2:00 so that we could check the sump pump. I got up to check and thank goodness it was fine. But then I couldn't get back to sleep. So what did I do - check the message boards and play Webkinz. Ran out of battery and went back to bed. Good thing that I posted my Amazing Scrapping Race layout before the power went out. Here are my latest layouts for the Go Scrapping Amazing Race. Only 8 people remain - I am having a blast completing the layouts. Doing different stuff and using up some of the archived supplies.

Quickutz Anonymous

The Scrapping Turtle has set up a Quickutz Anonymous Club for all the QK addicts. Each month the members get a shape and have the opportunity to take a QK class. I have been lucky enough to be the teacher of the class. I have so much fun teaching this class - it is a great group of women that get together each month. Right now we have room for 12 people but we are going to add another class and hopefully get the group up to 24. I love teaching this class, I love coming up with new ways to use the dies. Here are the class projects from May. I look forward to doing the class for June.

Happy Mother's Day to all those mom's out there. Just want to add that I am very thankful for my mom. Love you! Here is a little quote about moms. I totally appreciated these words.

When you need someone to stand beside you, Mom is near ...
When you need someone to hear your troubles, She will hear ...
When you need someone to share your burden, She will share ...
When you need to know that someone loves you, Mom is there.

My heart is RACING!

The Go Scrapping Amazing Race has got my heart racing. I can only imagine now what it must feel like in the real race. The contest is fun and is getting me scrapbooking. I love the challenges. Here is the layout from today's Roadblock and Challenge number 3. First we had to develop a sketch and then once the sketch was posted we had to complete a layout using the sketch without - get this NO ADHESIVE. What? I pulled out the sewing machine and that is how I adhered my layout. Can't wait to see what the next challenge has to offer.

Laughter

I celebrated another birthday this past weekend. On Sunday Andy and the girls had a birthday/mother's day brunch for me and my family. It was really nice to get together and share this special occasion. Avery thinks that at every birthday there should be games. So the party planner laid out a whole game itinerary with a race schedule and assigned partners. There was going to be the egg & spoon race, three legged race, wheel barrel race and the egg toss. Well man oh man, did we laugh. The funniest one was the wheel barrel race. The men were the wheel barrels - well we laughed and laughed and laughed so more. It was so much fun and good for the soul. I don't think that I have laughed like that in a long time. I so much appreciated Avery's enthusiasm and her ability to make us feel like kids again. It feels good to be a kid and let the kids be in control sometimes. Thanks Avery.

This past week in the newspaper it was full of Prince Andrew. The kids wanted to meet the Queen's son. I thought that there was no way that I was going to line up see him but then on Friday we found out that he was coming to Westmount for dinner. Andy took the girls over to take a glimpse of the Prince. He was a little late getting there and the royal sighting lasted for 42 seconds. But nevertheless, they saw Prince Andrew.

Why I Scrapbook?

Karen at Go Scrapping is having an Amazing Race contest on her message board. Today was the start date - it is going to be fun. Will get me scrapping again. Really looking forward to it. Today's challenge was "Why I Scrapbook". Great topic for any scrapbooker. Loved doing this challenge in a short time frame and loved the result. Most of my layouts take hours - it was great to give myself a time limit to get this done. Can't wait to see what is up next.

Along with the race, I am getting ready for Scrapfest in Paris this weekend. (If anyone is looking for tickets, I believe that the Scrapping Turtle has them for sale). If you are going, make sure you stop by the Turtle booth, say hello and do the Quickutz Make n' Take. We will be doing one on Friday and a different one on Saturday. Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Lots of scrapping for me right now - I also need to get the Quickutz Anonymous Club stuff done for next weekend. That is my next project. We are going to be doing some really cool stuff this month. It is so cool teaching the class and having so many enthusiastic QK people getting together to use our tools.

After CKU I have been totally inspired by Ali Edward's. I love checking her blog (http://aliedwards.typepad.com/_a_/) and reading her great reflections and comments on life and living. This week she had a really great post about your life temperature. It is all about balance in your life and getting your priorities right. Some really good stuff - I need to do this for me. Need to put this on my MUST DO JOB list.
