To the Fire Station We Go...

What a great field trip Meredith's class had yesterday. We visited the Fire Station on Weber at University. Colin (this is a dad of one of Avery's friend) gave the tour. All the guys did a great job. The kids heard about some fire safety stuff and what to do in a fire and then they were able to climb on the trucks and get inside to take a look. A short movie about Sparky ended the experience. As a parent this is a reminder that you need to do some planning at home in case of an emergency - have two ways out of your house, choose a meeting place outside and teach the kids that they should not hide if there is a fire, they need to make as much noise as possible.

We had a quiet rest of the day and Andy and I watched Notes of a Scandal last night. Kind of an interesting movie. Getting ready for my Saturday Sampler today at the Turtle. I will post a pic later.

Inspiration Everywhere

Okay so it doesn't usually happen from TV but yes, I was inspired last night watching Idol. The story segments of the show really touched me. Both the far away locations in Africa and the ones in the US - hunger and poverty is everywhere. It is one of those situations that you know exists but until it is in front of your face like that you tend to forget about the suffering others are experiencing. The program did encourage me to vote. Unfortunately I did not get through. I am so interested to see how much they raise tonight. In terms of the singers, the six were amazing last night. What a better show now that Sanjiay is gone. The remaining performers are so great - have to say that Jordin is my fav followed closely by Melinda and then Blake.

Worked a little bit on my "Week in the Life" album last night. I so want to get it finished. I love the album and the concept. I will post pictures when it is done.

So this is new for me...

This blog is a first for me. I do lots of peeking into other blogs but never thought that I would have my own. BUT here I am. I am so inspired by all the people out there that have blogs and keep their family and friends updated through this method. I feel that I want to do the same - so I took the plunge. After being away this weekend at CKU (yeah!!) I have so much to say and I feel that this would be a powerful tool for me.

I had such an inspiring weekend - WOW. The whole CKU experience was absolutely awesome. The teachers, the other women, the giveaways and my excellent travelling partner made the experience one that will not be forgotten. I took classes that were so much fun and my album track with ALI was great. She was so awesome and inspiring. I love her attitude and how she approaches life. Can't wait to finish the project and post some pics.

I really want to thank Rod & Judy for coming this week and looking after the kids - they made it possible for me to attend and the kids had a blast. Thanks to And too! I am so lucky that I could do this.

Regular Monday stuff today! Oh yeah - except Avery's dentist appointment this morning. She didn't do quite so well this time but she is a trooper. I had the Fast girls in the morning and kindermusik with Meredith in the afternoon. So cool watching little Mer's personality appearing each day!

So excited to be entering into this new forum. YEAH!!

Here are a couple of pics from CKU this weekend.
